Lunch time Drop-in Session at Glossopdale School promoting 🔪Operation Sceptre🔪 - The National Knife Crime Week of Action.

Glossop SNT - 🔪Operation Sceptre🔪  / School Engagement 

PCSO Buller Glossop YET attended Glossopdale School & Sixth Form, Newshaw lane, Hadfield, this afternoon, Tuesday 18th November to complete our usual monthly lunch time drop-in session there but more importantly to promote 🔪Operation Sceptre🔪. the week-long campaign that involves all police forces working to remove knives from the streets, deter carrying knives, and educate the public, particularly young people, on the dangers of knife crime. 

The team were there displaying information about and explaining to students that this weeks is ‘Operation Sceptre Week’ The National Knife Crime Week of Action - which is running from 17th November until 23rd  November

“Operation Sceptre week is not just about enforcement activity, it is also about education and wider awareness of knife crime - the campaign aims to raise awareness of knife crime and the police action in detecting, reducing and preventing it". 

By being available to talk to young people about the impact that knife crime can have and ways to support our plea to ‘Choose Life’- ‘Drop The Knife’ and ‘ Shattered' - 'Knives Shatter Lives’.  Youth engagement forms a significant part of this week, helping young people to move away from violence and involvement in knife crime

Today's visit was also an ideal opportunity to promote Fearless.org.   

What is Fearless? 

Fearless is a part of crimestoppers and is an online reporting tool specifically designed for young people to report crime 100% anonymously. 

Once again we'd like to say thank you to all of those students who engaged with the team during lunchtime today. 

Also our appreciation goes to the headteacher and staff at Glossopdale School for allowing this engagement to take place.
